Summary:

PanAgora seeks to integrate a Sr. Analyst to work closely with the Alpha Research team, Portfolio Construction, and software teams in maintaining and enhancing an equity investment platform.  Innovative research plays a central role in PanAgora’s investment philosophy and is an essential component of the firm’s ability to deliver attractive investment solutions.  Although overall scope and charter is long term, individual project work will tend to be ad hoc in nature.

Background required should show demonstrated experience and success in designing and building software systems at scale. Current systems use Python, R, and SQL, so an understanding and experience of these and related tools will be necessary with the ability and capacity to assess other software systems and processes that will improve the environment.  Individual needs to be independent, communicative, and mature enough to work in a fast-paced environment. Overall background and academic foundation should reflect understanding of capital markets and best software engineering practices.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Improve efficiencies to make an impactful contribution to the evolution of the equity research platform.
  • Build data pipelines to pull together information from different source systems; integrate, consolidate, cleanse data; and structure it for analytical or operational use.
  • Incorporate framework and procedures to maximize data quality confidence and transparency.
  • Provide or acquire an expertise of various equity data vendors.
  • Maintain and enhance data science tools, systems, and CI/CD processes.
  • Participate in the defining and promoting of best practices.
  • Evaluate and integrate 3rd party software packages and tools.

Essential Skills:

  • A data engineering expert with 8-10 years of industry experience.
  • Must be proficient with Python and SQL, experience with R is a strong plus.
  • Must be proficient with Linux, and Windows, preferably in a cross-platform environment.
  • Reasonably fluent in financial products backed by job experience. CFA/FRM designations a strong plus.
  • Experience and ability to work with Big Data technologies.
  • Must be well versed in software engineering design patterns and principles.
  • Master’s in computer science, mathematics, statistics or a related field is a strong plus.
  • Experience with Docker, Containers, Kubernetes, and/or Airflow a strong plus.
  • Ability to work independently in a fluid hands-on environment.
  • Must have a “Can do!” attitude and be inherently curious.
  • Creativity and ability to generate innovative solutions is highly desirable.
  • Previous experience working on a quant development or embedded technology team.
  • Ability to deal with both structured and unstructured data sets.
  • Must be versed in different approaches to data architecture and applications.

PanAgora is offering its employees the flexibility to work remotely for some portion of each week.  At this time, working on-site in our Boston office will be three (3) days per week and employees need to be available to come in more frequently as necessary.
